Find Who a Phone Number Belongs To

There are plenty of reasons you want to find who a phone number belongs to.  If the same phone number shows up on your home voicemail every day at the same time and they never leave a message, you start to get a little curious – even a little worried.  Why, you think, is this person calling and who are they?

When you have nothing but a phone number, you need to access a reverse directory in order to match that phone number to a person.  Reverse directories are collections of phone number owner records stored in a central database.  Several companies offer these directories.

To find who a number belongs to, you simply enter the number and choose the type of results you want.  Because these directories store not just phone numbers and names but also addresses, background information, family members, even age or birthday information in some cases, you can find all kinds of detail with that one little set of digits.

If you want to look up a land line phone number (a non-cell phone number), you can try searches in Google for free.  If the number is non-published and the owner has never entered the information in an openly accessible part of the internet, your option is to use one of these reverse directories.

There are no free methods of finding who a mobile phone number belongs to, though.  Mobile phone records are not publicly accessible.  Only paid directories have access to them and this is the reason they charge a fee for their service.  Only philanthropists give away information for free and ask nothing in return.

Other reasons you might want to find who a phone number belongs to is to check the calls being made to your children’s cell phones or to file a complaint of harassment on a prank caller.

Another reason, sad as it may be, is to find out if your girlfriend or boyfriend has been seeing someone on the side.  Happily married as I might be, I can’t say that I don’t get a little worried when I see a phone number on my wife’s cell phone that I don’t recognize.  If you think something might be going on and you are not getting a straight answer from your significant other, your only option is to follow them or at least research the clues you find in their phone records.

If the reason you need the information is to thwart potential harm to your family, getting the most accurate information possible is worthy of paying for the information.  There is no circumstance on earth where I would not be willing to pay to find out who a phone number belongs to if I thought any member of my family was being bullied or stalked by a prank caller.  Just watch the evening news any night of the week and see if you don’t feel the same.
