Use a reverse directory online to do a reverse business phone lookup on any numbers you don’t recognize that are calling your home or cell phone repeatedly. You can often find information on any company who has been trying to reach you but isn’t leaving their name or identifying information.

This works for toll-free numbers, too. If they’ve been collected in the database, you can run a report by entering the phone number and finding useful information to understand why that company might be trying to reach you.

There are laws out there to protect your privacy and that are intended to prevent telemarketing to your home that you have not authorized. However, not all companies follow those rules and if you find yourself on someone’s list, they may be hiding or disguising their name on your caller ID display.

Get a Cell Phone Background Check

You meet someone new – potential dating material.  They’re good looking, appear to be independent, single, and confident.  You’re laying out your future together in your head.  What you don’t see is the invisible baggage he or she is hiding from you to make a good, first impression.  Get a cell phone background check and weed out the fluff from your dating life.

That’s one of the big problems with dating, by the way.  You go out a few times and it doesn’t take long to get hooked.  If there’s any chemistry at all, you have a few things in common, and your conversations are light and easy, you start to invest yourself in the possibility of a new long-term relationship.

Only later, after you’ve put some of your relationship nest-egg into this new person do you find out that they come with a criminal record, a child (or two, or three) – maybe even a wife they neglected to tell you about.

Need some tricks to catch a cheating spouse with their cell phone records?  There is no question that wireless phones help people hide their calls more easily from their wife or husband but they also leave a great trail of breadcrumbs that can lead you right to the evidence that your significant other is not being faithful.

There are lots of people who might suspect that their spouse is cheating, but don’t do anything to find out for sure.  I can see their point of view.  Sometimes the thought of knowing for sure that something is going on makes the whole thing final.  It can’t be ignored as easily once you have the proof.

We think we sneak around through life with only our closest friends and family knowing any painful truths about ourselves – the details we keep from the rest of the world.  How much debt we have, what our home cost, the details of a divorce – we don’t display those details of our personal life publicly…anywhere.  Those are our bumps in life.  We all have them.  We just don’t want to share them.

Try as you might, though, those bumps leave little trails in the documents of communities, public records, and online social networks.  Yes, we don’t want to share our life bruises, but we’ll talk about them online under cover of a username.  And then, without thinking about it, we include a profile with our real name, or a link to our family website, or a photo where we’re standing in front of the high school from which we graduated.  It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to follow those crumbs of information and figure out more about the real you.

Do a reverse mobile phone number lookup to quickly find the name, address and other public records information about a person through their mobile phone number.

Because you can’t find the owner information of a mobile phone number for free, you need to tap into a special directory service to get this information.  Fortunately, these directory services exist online and they don’t charge much for a complete report on any mobile phone number.

Just make sure you use one that has a solid reputation.

These directories are called reverse phone directories.  They contain data scraped from public records and other sources in order to provide you the name, address, possible relatives, and any public records found on file for the person tied to a particular mobile phone number.

To use the directory, simply enter the full phone number and the directory will show you what type of report is available for that number.  You can then choose to order the report and see it immediately online or decide you don’t need the information after all.

Quickly learn how to find a person with just a phone number and get more information than you might expect on an anonymous caller, the new woman in your ex’s life, the new woman from the cleaning service you are thinking of letting into your home.

When you have just a phone number and you want more information about the person who owns that number, it’s called “reversing a number” or a “reverse lookup” to get the information. This is because normal phone or white page listings use the name as the input information and the output is the phone number. In this case, you have a phone number and none of the other information so you want to reverse that number into whatever associated data you can find.

To keep your costs low (free, even):

Use internet search engines to perform your initial research. When you need to know how to find a person with just a phone number, you may be able to find basic information online and it will cost you nothing. Type the phone number into a search engine, like Google, and see what information comes up. If the person has listed their phone number anywhere on line or if they are listed in the white pages somewhere, the search engines will likely be able to find it and will give you any information also listed with that number like a name, an address, an employer, or a family member.

How to Find Out Who is Calling You

Find out who is calling you and get the name and address of the person behind the phone number.  It seems unusual, doesn’t it, to have the actual phone number of a person but still need more information about them? That might be because you are receiving calls from the same number over and over as a result of someone making prank calls or attempting to harass you. If that’s the case, you have only a few options.

  • Call the number back and ask the caller for their name and information. Chances are that a prank caller is not going to answer, though, when they see the number they’ve been harassing show up on their phone. Even if they do, they probably aren’t going to give you their real name and address information, nor are they likely to stop calling just because you ask them to. Instead, they may escalate their attempts to annoy you because now they’ve gotten a response from you. They know that their efforts are doing their job and that you’re bothered by the calls.
  • You could also try calling the number from another number you own or a friend’s phone and try to see if the person will either answer or if you can catch their name on their voice mail. Keep in mind, though, that many people only put their first name on their voice mail so this may not give you all of the information you are after. Sometimes these calls may be from a friend who thinks they are playing a funny joke that’s not so funny and, if that is the case, catching their voice or name on the voice mail may clue you in immediately to who is calling you.

This strategy could backfire, though, if the caller is really someone who is trying to bother you. By calling from another phone number, you may just be adding one more phone they will start to call repeatedly. You could be giving them more information about yourself, your friends, or family by calling them from another phone number.

Who Does This Number Belong To? Find Out Fast!

Have you ever had reason to wonder “who does this phone number belong to”?  Maybe the same number is showing up repeatedly on your home phone or cell phone but the caller never leaves a message.  Perhaps you notice a phone number that doesn’t seem familiar showing up several times a month on your cell phone bill.

There are many reasons we might want to know who a phone number belongs to.  Harassing phone calls, a cheating spouse, or unknown numbers on our kids’ cell phones are all reasons for concern.

Reverse directories provide answers to those questions.  A reverse directory is the opposite of the old white pages we used to use for finding telephone numbers.  To use the white pages, you had a name but needed a phone number.  All of the information was listed alphabetically by name and you could easily find the number of a person or business you wanted to call.

How to Look a Name Up By Telephone Number

A family member of mine recently had reason to need to know how to look a name up by telephone number.  While going over the household bills, she noticed a number being called repeatedly by her husband right around the time he was to have been leaving work on the weekdays.

Sometimes there was just one call made and it would last for a few minutes.  Sometimes there were several attempts made in a row with a final call that would last about an hour.  No matter how hard this family member tried to figure out what number her husband was calling, she could not find any record of that number in their personal contacts lists.

It is completely natural to become suspicious under such circumstances.  As much as we want to trust our spouse or significant other, the facts around divorce and infidelity are too significant to be ignored.  It is also impossible to ignore the fear.
