Use a reverse directory online to do a reverse business phone lookup on any numbers you don’t recognize that are calling your home or cell phone repeatedly. You can often find information on any company who has been trying to reach you but isn’t leaving their name or identifying information.

This works for toll-free numbers, too. If they’ve been collected in the database, you can run a report by entering the phone number and finding useful information to understand why that company might be trying to reach you.

There are laws out there to protect your privacy and that are intended to prevent telemarketing to your home that you have not authorized. However, not all companies follow those rules and if you find yourself on someone’s list, they may be hiding or disguising their name on your caller ID display.

Frankly, I’m nosy. I am pretty good at finding information about people – it used to be my job. But did I go overboard when I started checking out my friends and coworkers? However, the search engines can’t always tell which one you are after and you often end up with internet results that show you the companies that meet one request, but not the other. How are these two terms different and which one do you really need?

Reverse Cell Phone
The clue is the word “reverse” in this search term. To reverse a number means you have the number but need to find a name for that number. It is the opposite of a white pages directory. These types of lookups are great if you want to find out who has been calling you over and over, need to know the name that goes with a number that keeps showing up on your cell phone statement, or just want to know more about the person whose number you picked up at the club last night (but whose name you forgot!)
